Our focus is contemporary, fusing modern, ballet, jazz and a bit of funk. The spirit of EDT is creative with an emphasis on connecting body and emotion to express the true magic of the dance, taking audiences and dancers on an inspiring journey.
Based in Silver Lake at Studio A our dance community is warm and accepting. The dancers feel a special comaraderie, supporting each other in being fully expressed in a safe and
nuturing environment that promotes self-confidence.
About the Director
Shari is the instructor and choreographer for Eclectic Dance Theater. She is also the director of KidSpirit Arts and Adventure Summer Camp. Her dance background includes the studying of ballet with Yuri Smaltzoff Los Angeles, Isadora Duncan technique with Kathryn Cassis, gymnastics with Igor Ashkenazi, jazz , modern and hip hop with various teachers in LA. Shari majored in Drama/Communications and Psychology in her hometown of New Orleans. She also studied Early Childhood Development and worked as a preschool teacher in Los Angeles for six years. She started her summer camp and after -school program for tweens and teens in 2004. Shari has performed in plays, musicals, dance showcases and private venues in New Orleans and Los Angeles, and is currenly teaching classes at Studio A Dance in Silver Lake, CA. Shari has been teaching kids ages two to eighteen since 2000, as well as taught classes for adults. Every year her students perform in her annual Spring production and her dance companies perform in various Los Angeles venues.
